How To Save Money On Dental Implants – Get It Done In Mexico

How to Save Money on Dental Implants – Get it Done in Mexico –
by Mark Shapiro

How does your smile look? Not so good? Are your bridges failing or your teeth becoming loose? Are you already missing teeth? Has your regular dentist or periodontist recommended that you consider getting dental implants?

That happens to lots of people as they get older especially if they have periodontal disease. Many are on the edge of losing all of their teeth. This means either get used to wearing uncomfortable dentures or deciding to get implants.

The decision to get dental implants can be confusing however. Even though all dental professionals may agree the patient needs dental implants, each dentist, oral surgeon or periodontist has their own treatment approach. Some prefer to do a whole set of dental implants while others recommend just doing two or three implants and then using those new teeth as a base for a bridge. In addition, there is a lot of debate regarding “Immediate Loading” or installing a temporary bridge so that the patient has “teeth” right after the dental implant surgery instead of using dentures for six to eight months until the implants heal.

Unfortunately most dental insurance policies do not cover dental implants. This is beginning to change but what this means for most people, is that they end up paying for the procedures out of their own pocket.

So where can you get affordable quality dental work done that is reliable, safe and hygienic? You may have heard the term “Dental Tourism”? Many foreign countries offer dental work at prices far below those costs offered in the US.

Depending on where you live in the US, a good option is getting your work done in Mexico. You can either drive or fly and make it a dental vacation. In cities all along the border, Mexican dentists offer their services. Because overhead and labor costs are much lower in Mexico, it is possible for a Mexican dental professional to offer costs that are 40-60% lower than in the US.

The level of education, training and experience varies among dentists who perform dental implants. Even if you need a basic dental implant treatment, you need to do your research and find a competent Implant Dentist. Be aware that you get what you pay for The cheapest work is often not the best. You should find a dental professional who specializes in dental implants.

But what about quality and experience?

According to Dr. Alvarez-Carrera of the Dental Implants Center (www.dental-implants-center.com) in Tijuana, Mexico, “It is important to ask a lot of questions about the training and experience of the doctor who is actually doing the work.”

You need to ask:
What type of training did you get? Formal 3 year specialty, or just weekend seminars?
How long have you been doing implants?
How many implants have you done?
How often do you place or restore implants?
What is your success rate?

Thousands of dental professionals on both sides of the border are now jumping on the dental implant bandwagon as a way to bolster their office’s income. However, they are not required to complete much training. In fact, many dentists (in the US as well as in Mexico and other countries) may have only completed a weekend seminar offered by an implant product manufacturer. That’s all they need to do implants. They do not need any serious training, additional certification or professional education.

However, this is a highly technical and sensitive surgical and prosthetic treatment which requires a high level of expertise.

There are risks for dental implants if not done correctly. These include local and systemic infection, nerve injury and the possibly that there might be inadvertent perforation of the nasal sinus. These can be serious life threatening complications.

Dr Alvarez-Carrera explained that he has been doing implants for 25 years- from the early days of Implant technology. He has successfully completed treatments on thousands of implant patients with over a 99% success rate. That’s very good.. He graduated from a formal postgraduate 3 year specialty training in Oral Implantology at the Dental School at Loma Linda University in California and is currently an Assistant Professor there, teaching new dental professionals how to correctly do implants.

As part of my initial research, I checked some of the dental industry blogs and was amazed by how many dentists there were who were having problems with implants due to lack of proper training. You might want to check a few of these out so you can ask educated questions.

To prevent something going wrong or to avoid experiencing serious complications, patients should only use a dental implant specialist with years of experience and extensive training and certification. Also, if possible, check their credentials and talk to a few happy patients.

If you are considering dental implants, you need to find someone with surgical and prosthetic implant experience – especially if you have severe periodontal disease or if you need multiple implants.

Guava As Medicine

Guava (Psidium guajava) is a delecious fruit with medical efficacy. Commercially, world production of guava fruit is estimated at about 500,000 metric tons, with Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela producing significant quantities. Processed guava products include beverages, cheese, ice cream, jams, jellies, juice, syrup, toffee, wine, and dehydrated and canned products.

Guava is known to have antiamebic, antibiotic, antidiarrheic, antihyperglycemic, antimutagenic, antispasmodic, and sedative effects, as well as anticough and narcotic-like activities of the plant species.

Medicine for diarrhea:

Guava leaves have antidiarrheic property. Quercetin present in guava affects smooth muscle fibers as a calcium antagonist, inhibits intestinal movement, and reduces capillary permeability in the abdominal cavity.

Take a handful of fresh guava leaves and rinse them in clean water. Chop the leaves. Boil them in about two cups of water with a pinch of salt, strain and cool. You can keep the leaves in the water for hours ahead of drinking. The medicine is stronger if the leaves are allowed to soak into the tea for several hours. Drink half a cup every three hours as needed for diarrhea. This will slow the diarrhea down and give you more energy.

Medicine for constipation:
Ripe guava can be eaten when you are constipated to help you have a bowel movement.

Medicine for toothache:
When you have a toothache or painful gums, you can place washed leaves in your mouth on the sore spot. Chew the leaf a little bit to release the medicine into the painful tooth or gum.

Medicine for Cataracts:
Quercetin which is an antioxidant that blocks enzymes that are responsible for building sorbitol, the sugar that forms the cloudy white clusters that cause cataracts.

Other Medicinal uses:
Guava leaves decoction is recognized for its effectiveness to cure several ailments, including the treatment of uterine hemorrhage, swollenness of the legs and other parts of the body, of chronic diarrhea, and gastroenteritis, among others. The most common use of the leaves is for cleaning and disinfecting wounds by rinsing the afflicted area with a decoction of the leaves. In the same way, such leaves are being used to aid in the treatment of dysentery and the inflammation of the kidneys. The bark and leaves can be used as astringent. It can also be used as a wash for uterine and vaginal problems, and is good for ulcers.

Will Texas Health Insurance Provide Coverage On Both Sides Of The Border

With large numbers of immigrants and tourists regularly moving between Mexico and Texas, Governor Rick Perry began talking about a bi-national health insurance plan for Texas in August 2001. Perry said, “The effort to combat disease and illness requires greater cooperative efforts between our two nations.? Years later in cut-throat political campaigns, that has become an issue regardless of how it might improve health stats in a state that lags behind the rest of the country.

The plan was never meant to merge the health systems of Texas and Mexico. It would allow private health insurance companies to provide coverage to both Mexican and U.S. citizens living within 62 miles of the borders. According to a report from the Texas State Senate, 26 percent of the state’s population needs health coverage and the need is greatest along the border. Texas has the largest percentage of uninsured of all the states.

A study was prepared to evaluate the feasibility of a bi-national system, but no legislative attempts were made to overcome numerous barriers. The idea may not go any farther this time.

Texas Health Insurance Premiums Did Not Track Malpractice Premiums

Another study has shed new light on how the 2003 limits on damages in medical malpractice cases have impacted Texas health insurance. The group Public Citizen released a report showing that both health care costs and Texas health insurance premiums have risen since tort reform, and premiums are rising at a higher rate that the national average.

Texas’ malpractice legislation didn’t limit economic damages in medical malpractice suits, but it did limit damages for pain and suffering to $250,000 per provider up to a maximum of $750,000 total. Medical malpractice insurance premiums did drop dramatically, so why weren’t the savings passed back to patients?

Medical malpractice payments fell by 65 percent from 2003 until 2010. The state’s biggest malpractice insurer dropped premiums by 50 percent over that period.

Health Insurance For Texas Has Expanded Coverage

There has been some good news. Federal health care reform required TX health insurance plans to pay for preventive health care through network providers without charging policyholders anything. That means co-insurance or co-pays and you don’t need to meet a deductible before preventive care is covered.

Since this preventive care is covered even before you meet a plan’s deductible, any high-deductible plans will provide that coverage. That includes the very highest-deductible policies, which have the lowest premiums.

The preventive care services include Immunizations and screening procedures for the most common diseases that can lead to premature death, such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. That kind of care is available with no out-of-pocket costs from providers in the plan’s network of doctors.

Finding a high-deductible plan with an affordable premium may take some research, though. Insurance companies charge different premiums for similar plans, so compare prices and coverage just you would when shopping for any major investment. The future of TX health insurance is still unknown, but policies purchased after reform do cover more.

Top Aphrodisiac Herbs Enhancing Male Sex Drive

An increasing number of men are dissatisfied with their sex drive, with many suffering from erectile dysfunction ( E.D.), low libido and impotence. Many factors contribute to this decline in male potency, including overwork, stress, lack of sleep, and estrogens in the environment, among others.

Many of these men are turning to the natural herb alternatives to Viagra, Cialis and Levitra being touted on the Internet, tv infomercials, radio, or in print ads. Most, if not all these men’s herbal supplements are overpriced and many contain yohimbe, an herb known to raise blood pressure.

Such products may also be weak, and a waste of the consumer’s money. Though there are some that may work, they usually have short term results, not building libido for boosting desire, hot passion, stamina and performance in the long run.

Instead of the dissapointing fare of Viagra, Cialis and Levitra alternative pills, the male consumer needs libido enhancer herb supplements that are less likely to cause the unwanted side effects, and that also build libido to address the underlying causes.

Enter safe and effective aphrodisiac herbs to rescue the male mojo. Aphrodisiacs have been around for thousands of years, being mentioned in in the ancient Ayurvedic texts of India, the Bible, and in Chinese medicine – to name a few.

Indian Ayurvedic medicine looks at aphrodisiacs as “increasing ojas”, the sexual essence. Various Indian sexual pills therfore use spices and exotic herbs like cloves, nutmeg, saffron and ashwagandha.

Chinese have a saying… …”weak kidney, weak sex.” In their system of herbal medicine they use terms like “yin” and “yang”. Most Chinese sexual tonics aim at increasing yang, although yin is important as a foundation for deep rejuvenation of exhausted kidneys.

Think of yin as cool, yang as warm. Since yin also needed as a deep foundation, many formulas use both yin and yang herbs in them. The popular “horny goat weed” is yang for example, while licorice is yin.

The overall idea is to increase what the Chinese call “jing” or “ching”, which is the sexual essence that is similar to the “ojas” of Indian medicine. Increasing kidney energy (jing) and also “chi”, or overall “life force”, boosts sex drive.

There are herbs in other cultures like maca from Peru, damiana from Mexico, and tongkat ali from Malaysia. These are single herbs, not an herbal blend as used in Chinese and Indian Ayurvedic medicine. And they work more on testosterone and nerves , instead of kidneys.

Androgens like testosterone are naturally occuring in small amounts in some Chinese animal preparations. Some herbs increase the bodies own production of testosterone from the leydig cells of the testicles, which also contributes to robust sexual drive.

There are alternatives to the many overpriced, hyped, men’s sex boosters with glitzy packaging. The male consumer has the luxury of reasonably priced, safe, time tested and effective products of ancient cultures.
